Restorative options for every tooth
We have created our dental studios in a warm and relaxing environment — a place where our experienced team of dentists can ease your nerves and guide you through all your options and costs. Our goal is to show you all your options, so that you are well informed to make the best decision for yourself.
White fillings
Made of composite resin, these are a tooth-coloured material filled with glass particles. Composites are used to restore cavities and also for cosmetic improvements of the smile. They come in various colours to match the existing shade of your teeth.
Ceramic fillings
If the size of your cavity is significant, an option is to restore the tooth with a stronger filling material. Also called ‘inlays & onlays’, these provide a long-term durable restoration to strengthen and reinforce your tooth. The porcelain material offers a great alternative to standard composite filling material, made to match the shape and shade of your natural teeth.
Dental crown
Crowns are made of either a tooth-coloured material or an alloy like gold, and completely cover the tooth. They are used to support a tooth and decrease the chances of fracturing. When a tooth is heavily filled, has cracks, or has had a root canal treatment, crowns help lengthen the life of the tooth — and are also used for cosmetic reasons to change the shape or colour of your tooth.
Dental bridge
Dental bridges are used when there is one or more missing teeth that need to be replaced. The adjoining teeth may also be weak, and their existing structure would benefit from a crown — these teeth can be joined, or bridged together. Ceramics like Lithium Disilicate, Emax, Zirconia and gold can all be used in the making of a dental bridge or crown.

FAQ’s about dental restorations
How long do crowns, bridges and fillings last?
Usually, restorations in your mouth fail due to pre-existing factors. Acidic saliva can destroy the bond between the materials and cause them to fail. The forces on your teeth are based on each individual’s habits and muscles — excess forces can crack a tooth, and hence any material placed in the mouth can eventually crack as well. Good oral hygiene, involving both brushing and flossing, is essential so that decay or bacteria does not get between the joinery of your new restoration and your teeth. All these factors affect the lifespan and longevity of your teeth.
How much does a crown cost?
This will depend on the material chosen, as well as the location of the tooth in the mouth. Creating a cosmetically pleasing crown involves matching the colours and proportions to your surrounding teeth. Crowns range in cost from $1,900 up to $2,500 depending on these factors. Speak to our team who will design a treatment plan for you — payment options can also be discussed.
How much do fillings cost?
Fillings range in cost from $250 up to $500 a tooth depending on the size of the cavity and difficulty of the case. A range of payment options are available and can be discussed with our team.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, we offer a variety of solutions to spread out the cost of your treatment. Speak to our team at The Smile Designer to work through your options.
What does a crown or bridge procedure involve?
The procedure is done under a local anaesthetic and a mould is taken of the prepared tooth. A temporary crown is placed, and the moulds are sent off to our master ceramists who construct the prosthetics. Different materials are chosen and designed depending on the location of the crown in your mouth and the amount of force exerted on these teeth. The second appointment, roughly 2 weeks later, is when the crown or bridge is inserted.
How much does a bridge cost?
A bridge will vary in cost depending on the number of teeth being replaced. We will assess and provide you with a treatment plan at your consultation.
Does private health insurance cover fillings, crowns and bridges?
Yes, we can claim on the spot for the majority of health insurances. Your level of rebate will depend on your level of cover with your insurance fund.
